Check out the new Spring 2013 lineup from Mega Bloks Halo! You may remember their playsets and figures from Toymation Fest and other amazing stop motion videos (not to mention your favorite toy store!), and we’re thrilled that they’re back with a new series of sets inspired by Halo 4. Take a look at the details below!

Mantis

Inspired from the new mech found in Halo 4, the UNSC Mantis comes heavily armed with a buildable docking station and a Spartan in Warrior armor.

The UNSC Mantis is a buildable bipedal armor defense system designed for multiple combat roles, armed with a heavy machine gun on its right arm and a missile launcher on its left arm. With a 360° swiveling torso and fully articulated joints, the Mantis can be posed in almost any way you can think of! Position your Mantis to fire at enemy forces, crouch low to sneak up on unsuspecting targets or unleash a massive stomp attack!

Cryo Bay

Inspired by the Master Chief’s fateful awakening in Halo 4, the UNSC Cryo Bay lets you relive the game’s opening moments aboard the Forward Unto Dawn! The UNSC Cryo Bay includes a cryo tube, computer interface, fully equipped weapons rack, an A.I. pedestal with a mini Cortana and of course, The Master Chief!

Covenant Spectre Ambush

Covenant Infantry Support Vehicle – commonly known as The Spectre. The set includes a buildable Covenant Spectre, a UNSC Missile Pod and three highly-detailed micro action figures to add to your collection: Two Covenant Elites with plasma weapons, and a UNSC Marine equipped with a magnum and backpack.

Cauldron Clash

The Cauldron Clash includes six new figures with three new weapons and a sprawling, buildable battle terrain with moving features like ramps and gates. This set is filled with features to make battles more dynamic and treacherous. Moving ramps allow the Prometheans to cut off any potential escape routes. A switch at one end of the bridge can be flipped, causing the gate to explode and be blasted away. Hopefully you won’t find a Knight on the other side!

Inside 343: Will Christiansen

Inside 343

The Halo universe is an incredibly diverse and detailed world, so it should come as no surprise that the people who hone, refine and work within this universe come from a broad array of different backgrounds. In this series, Inside 343, we’ll take a look at various individuals, faces both familiar and fresh, and their roles in helping to shape the world of Halo.

Gameplay Animator - Will Christiansen

Will Christiansen

For Halo 4, I was the character owner for the Elite and was the point man for the first person animation system and the assassination system. I’ve been an Animator here just under two and a half years. Previously, I worked on Halo: Reach while I was at Bungie. My first job was to create DLC dragon-to-dragon flying assassinations for Lair on the PS3.

My favorite part of working on Halo games is the universe I get to play in. Sitting and working right at the crossroads between design, functionality and how our worlds come to life is what the primary role is for a Gameplay Animator at 343. I strive to constantly push greater character depth within the massive Halo sandbox and give our characters and our environments more immersive connection to the broader narrative context. I get to explore how we tell story with our universe; I get to play where I work and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Halo 4 Animation Show Reel

Here is the Animation Show Reel I put together for Halo 4. There are a lot of assassinations on there – I’d say these are my favorite. Assassinations present an interesting problem for multiplayer gameplay which make them an interesting type of animation to work on. The content needs to read really well from several angles in a very short amount of time, as they can’t be any longer than 2.5 seconds! That gives me about 75 frames to work with. All the stuff on my reel is hand-keyed animation (no mo-cap).
