Halo 4 TU Change List

The next time you log into Halo 4, you will be prompted to download a title update. This particular title update tackles actual game and gameplay issues, not sandbox tweaks and balances. We have another TU in the works and will continue working on the timing and content of the next one. For now, here is a change list of what was included in today's title update.

• Implemented general stability improvements
• Fixed glitch where quickly reloading after firing the Boltshot resulted in an instant reload
• Fixed glitch where sprinting prior to activating the Hardlight Shield allowed players to move faster
• Fixed glitch were players could throw a grenade and then immediately sprint afterwards to perform a high velocity grenade
• Fixed glitch where Mantis could fire more rockets without reloading if the machine gun was fired partway through unleashing the charged missile barrage
• Fixed issue where DLC was unavailable for other profiles on the same console
• Fixed issue where DLC disappeared after console reboot
• Fixed issue where players could not unlock Campaign completion achievements when using a rally point other than Alpha for any mission to finish the Campaign
• Fixed issue where players were not given credit for completion of a Spartan Ops Episode Difficulty Challenge when completing it through Matchmaking
• Fixed issue where players with 99 or more Xbox LIVE friends could not get File recommendations
• Fixed issue where loadout configurations were lost if the game was booted and then powered off before passing the “Press START” screen
• Fixed issue where attempting to upload large films to the File Share under poor network conditions caused the upload to fail
• Improved time to load variants with separate profiles
• Fixed issue where moving a profile from one controller port to another after relaunching the game reset loadout settings
• Improved consistency of random ordnance navigation marker display
• Fixed performance issues when launching Halo Waypoint from Halo 4

OK... What about not being able to change the party cap in your lobby when players are in your lobby?  Hopefully in next TU.

A lot of the little things are being addressed, and that is good...  

All of the things that people focused on in a game, like weapon control and map control seem to be a thing of the past.  But what has replaced it?  Getting ordinance?  Yay, now it's not so great to get a power weapon.  Everyone knows that the DMR is more effective than any other loadout weapon and does a great job of keeping vehicles from being effective (and the fact that you can spawn with a power weapon AKA the plasma pistol... Oh, and sticky grenades).  So what emphasis is there on getting power weapons if your loadout weapons are just as good?

All I use is the DMR because it's the most effective weapon in any situation.  So the game gets boring for me.  Yes, that is just my opinion, but I was hoping that Halo 4 would balance all the weapons.  But it appears the DMR is king.

It seems that in Halo 4 the weapons don't play roles as much as they did in previous Halo games.  All of the loadout weapons perform the same basic task, but are very slightly, more effective at different ranges.  I know there are more weapons in Halo 4, but because of a large amount of redundant weapons, it seems like there are half the amount of weapons as there were in Halo 2.

The light rifle, BR, carbine and DMR all perform the same basic task, but vary in performance enough for players to gravitate to one that fits their play-style.  Yeah, it's fun to have many toys to choose from, but what about the role that other weapons play?  All you see for the most part when playing Halo 4 is people using their loadout weapons.  You don't see any of the cool weapon combinations people come up with to gain an advantage in the situation at hand.  People just shoot with the gun in their hand because all the loadout weapons are effective enough to merit a good chance of killing a player.

I don't have a clue what Eshcka is talking about in the post above, about weapons. It's like going into team BRs in Halo 3 and saying "I don't get why everyone primarily uses their BR to kill people".....*facepalm*, but I digress.

Great update! I'm glad they fixed some of these glitches. It's good to see 343 working to make the game as solid as can be! Looking forward to what TU 2 will bring.

Im just hoping they update swat to fit the current maps. Increased run speed 120%, head shots 15 points body shots 5 points, assassinations 5 points and regular melee 0 (though that can be tweaked) to total 750 point games. But they really need to increase movement speed and give us dexterity. Swat is supposed to be a fast paced playlist. the only map it works well on is Haven. all the others are too big because if you sprint in swat, you die.

My bug:

-Halo 4: IMPOSSIBLE MODE-
All weapons on legendary solo campaign vanish IMMEDIATELY upon hitting the ground.
Map weapons are still there.
If you can catch a weapon BEFORE it hits the ground, you can have it, but this method and the grabbing the map spawns are the only means for survival.

Levels: Reclaimer on the orange part, and during the holdout on the one where you "Clear an LZ big enough for a Pelican."

Fix: Save and quit. Reboot xBox. Weapons work. HOWEVER! It keeps happening to me.

My girlfriend's bug:

-SILENT SOLDIER-
Voice ban for no reason, says "one week" ban, but still has not cleared after ten days, SIX of which she was not Microphoned Up.
She only uses voice to call shots for her warthog drivers, and alert Dominion Bases of incoming vehicles. She isn't offensive.

Levels: All multiplayer; still able to talk to friends when invited. Also ONE Canadian guy who wasn't' our friend.

Fix: Two weeks later, the ban was gone. TWO WEEKS.

Guests can't talk anymore. Big issue for custom games with out of state friends during Game Nights.

Glad to see the improvements! Still need to fix the sprint issue where if you're sprinting and then you try to melee it puts you into scope. So annoying!!!!!!

That second bug is a REAL bug and a REAL problem.  Every single time I log in to Halo 4 it says I have been banned from voice chat for a week.  However, I have A) Not received an e-mail that I have been banned, B) Did not use voice chat in Halo 4 publicly before that an C) I don't seem to actually be able to not use it.  It just annoying pops up, but so far I've used voice just fine.  It has been over a week for me and it still pops.  This needs to be fixed.

Yoink!, yes.  This is the most annoying bug I've experienced in the entire game. REALLY annoying when you're trying to assassinate and you just start to then go into scope and get pulled out of it, or when it's a game changing moment.

How about fixing the glitch were the sticky grenade goes past you like 5 feet then comes back to stick you!!!!! I have 2 videos so far in my file share gamertag EURYNOME STOLAS,  1 is what the uck 343 and the other one is what the stuck 2 that is my new name for them. The what the stuck video series. Its happend more than a few times this is just some videos when I really noticed it.

So if I enter a maps pack pass code then the other players on the console will have the DLC too right? Or at least while they are on that console?

My glitch is Halo 4 and Waypoint not syncing all player images.  About 70% of my friends Halo 4 images, including my own, are the default Regruit image. The remaining 30% are accurate to the tee and 100% of the data for everyone is good.  My Halo Anniversary image on Waypoint is correct, just not in Halo 4.  I deleted Waypoint and reinstalled to no avail.  Wondering if anyone else has this issue.

I agree regarding the need to add "X" markers over dead teammates in the normal field of view - we need to be able to call out enemies effectively on any map regardless of how well we know the map.

Also, please do something about Promethean grenades.  They are largely worthless as an area denial weapon because of sprint, and are entirely worthless otherwise.  I suggest making them behave like the power drain in Halo 3.  This would have the bonus effect of bringing Halo 4 (1 current EMP capable weapon) into parity with Reach (2 EMP capable weapons and 1 EMP capable armor ability) and Halo 3 (1 EMP capable weapon and 1 EMP capable device).  This is also important because the Sticky Detonator is the least rewarding weapon ever included in a Halo game (arguably the H2 pistol was in the same tier) and because the wonderfully fun Grenade Launcher did not make another appearance.

Is the framerate on Complex fixed when playing split screen online in Infinity Slayer?

It took them a month and a week to fix the game ruining glitches. On top of the insanely late specs releases. This  proves how capable 343i is of taking care of the halo franchise GOOD JOB -_-

k next get rid of join in game because 98% of the time you join into a game and that sucks for when you have a party of 2+, and 99% of the time you lose anyway. even staying in a lobby makes you join in game. at least make a option that says join in game disable/ enable.

I just want to know. Where are the preset variations of the 3 forge maps? They should be in playlists. It's a waste of dev time to make 3 maps and never use them outside of custom games. They're great for forge but having 3 more maps in the MM playlists (before DLC) would keep things way more interesting. The presets are there, why aren't they uses?

Good TU for Halo 4 343 keep up the good work! The next TU can you include:

*Betrayal Booting Options in War Games and Spartan Ops
*Friendly Fire in both War Games and Spartan Ops(seriously I hear alot of this from my XBL friends who play War Games this needs to be fixed. I keep getting betrayed in Spartan Ops too from people who destroy the Mantis on Valhalla over the vehicle commendation. x.x)
*Fix Theater to save films for both Campaign and Spartan Ops.

Lastly that Waypoint is here lacking for Theater on H4. File Share for Halo 4! Lets share our films and screenshots to the community! Laughing

I am still having a problem with not being to access my DLC on another system. i have 2 in my house and if someone else wants to play i will take it to the bigger TV. But my DLC will not appear. I got the limited edition and I don’t want this to affect my map packs that I will soon have. It has already caused problems with my load outs. Because I cannot access my DMR and assault riffle with frst skin.

Since the update I have lost access to all Specializations, except the two default Specializations; tried to re-download the Specializations with no luck, WHAT GIVES? Can you PLEASE FIX THE NEW BUG THAT HAS BEEN INTRODUCED? The loss of Specialization access happend on two consoles and both accounts, PLEASE GET THIS FIXED.

Dear 343,

         The boltshot is a PISTOL. NOT a SHOTGUN. If this isn't going to be changed anytime soon, then i suggest you let us have the UNSC shotgun and the promethean scattershot available as a starting secondary weapon. Or maybe just take the "charge up, haha you died because i shot you and you were 30 yards away because i started with a shotgun and not a pistol" out of multi-player.

So, I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I'm not getting kicked out of my scope like every other Halo has done when taking damage. It's nice when I'm trying to get a guy from across the map and I still manage to get that last shot off before I drop, but it gets annoying sometimes cause I don't know where I'm getting shot from and I can't easily or quickly look either. I heard that it was supposed to be a specialisation, but I've been doing it from day one. Anyone that wants to know, I switched to sensitivity 10, hold to crouch, and Bumper Jumper as soon as I got the game. I sort of don't want it to change, but if it's a bug, then I suppose it should be fixed.

I didn't have enough time to properly or even effectively say what I wanted to.  I was rushing myself and when I read it myself, it's confusing.

I'll try to be a little bit more organised and try to explain myself more simply this time. :/

In Halo 4 you have utility weapons, and ordnance weapons.  Many of the weapons are redundant.  If you take all the weapons that perform the same basic task and condense them into one weapon, you have less weapons than in previous games.  The BR, DMR, Carbine, and LR can be condensed to the BR and the carbine, burst shot weapon and semi-auto weapon.  Both are useful in different ways.  The Rocket Launcher, FR, and Incineration Cannon and be condensed to just the Rocket Launcher, they all do the same thing, one with a little more damage and slower firing rate and vice versa.  The AR, Suppressor, and the SAW all do the same thing for the most part (the suppressor is more like the SMG).

My whole point is, we want something new if you are going to put something in the game.  I don't want repeats, I don't want copies.  And if the "new" (copies of old stuff that old stuff did just fine) replaces the new tools we got to enjoy in Reach (revenant, grenade launcher, falcon, plasma launcher), I'm pretty darn ticked off.

This is Halo 4: Combat De-volved.

We aren't moving forward, we are just using copies of the old stuff to give people an illusion of having something new.

Cool, glad to see some fixes there, but what about the international host problem? i.e. Monday night I had 7 friends with me (al from Perth, Western Australia) and it allocated the host (several times during the course of the night) to the one individual in the match from the US?

Or is thin not considered a fault? Because this is a game breaker for some of my friends. Even if an option to choose regional host were added. Half of my regular Halo crew from Reach have gone back to playing Reach until this is fixed. I imagine that you don't want to be the downstep in the Halo Franchise listing given it's 343's first foray.

I think 343i has been doing a good job with Halo 4. Yes, there are a lot of similarities with some of the weapons (the long-range loadout weapons for sure; i honestly like the bolt-shot), and yes, they have dumbed down the vehicles available--i miss the revenant Frown--but overall it is a very fun game and though it seems like a bad game it is their first real game and it's a process to make a good game. So great job.

But really why I'm here is to point out a glitch i just noticed in flood. Apparently, sometimes if a player joins in the middle of a match, the game does not recognize that he has joined and he starts off with an assault rifle instead of a shotgun. I thought it was a hacker at first but i checked both my recent games and it happened to two different people. Just wanted y'all to know.

I love the game except something essential is clearly missing: sniper headshot medal. Some nub who body-shot everyone should not receive the same rewards as a player who actually sniped everyone.  It's almost like someone went out of their way to NOT include this for some reason. Why wouldn't you? o.O

And placing an X over dead team-mates: YES. I want to be able to call "On my X!" and not feel dumb. The maps (except for Haven) aren't as intuitive in Halo 4 as previous Halos, so memorizing call-outs is more of a chore, making X important.

One last thing: standard FFA (NOT ANNOYINGNAUT), Doubles, and team snipers should be standard playlists as they ALWAYS were and were always successful. Why wouldn't they be? Trust me, WAY more people wanna play these than, say, Extraction... Come on, now...

Still love the game, though.  :  /

I was wondering in the next title update if you could add the party feature for theater. I want to be able to watch films with my friends inside the same party. It is an awesome feature that I would love to see come back Smile

Why does everyone use the plasma pistol? Sure, the n00b combo is beast, but the boltshot is crazy good too. It's a f***ing shotgun in your loadout!!!!! It's several times been my tool of destruction. Can also get a few headshots on unshielded foes, so a melee headshot can work pretty well w/ it's fast fire rate. I suppose it's balanced w/ it's fair bloom, and the fact it actually takes an entire clip to drop a shield. (seriously, tested it, takes a clip and a shot to get a kill) Always amuses me when I see a guy using a boltshot's primary firing mode. What am I talking about again? Oh yea, use the boltshot as your secondary. It's really good if you learn how to use it. I use the PP in my BtB loadout, along with some stickies to p3wn the vehicles. Course, plasmas don't rape hogs as well as they used to. Well, I've completely lost my point. This is craZboy557, signing off.

Will there be an update to remove/disable "Aim Assist?"  I was thrilled when I first played the game, and could not detect it, but after the first update, I was frustrated to have to deal with it again.

fix the specialization problem PLEASE!!!! I use the code you guys sent out, but then last night i downloaded the title update and then right after that all of the specializations, other than the ones i have previously completed, are gone and i cant get them back no matter what i try Frown so now im stuck at level 70 with no way out PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

Is it just me or has ordinance been effected by the update..?  Before the update when using the Requisition Tactical upgrade, I had I think two or three rolls of the dice, now it only changes the ordinance selections once...   Anyone else having this problem..?

I lost every specialization I had.  I had just put in the Specialization Priority Alpha code I recieved yesterday, then the update happened tonight in the middle of Spartan Ops, and now I have only the default 2 specializations.

I tried reentering the code. Nothing

Redownloaded the DLC. Nothing

I want my specializations back.  This is B.S. 343i.  Halo 4 was great because I could actually progress more specializations, and now its sucking.

Does anyone else have issues trying to get access to specializations that they haven't unlocked yet? I have the earily access pass. I mastered 4 of them and can't get the rest of them. Is this some kind of glitch?
